Young Actors Space offers online and in-person acting classes that include improvisation, script analysis, audition techniques, self-taping, and scene study. Online classes cover improvisation, script analysis, and audition techniques and include self-tapes for viewing and critique by professional instructors. Classes are structured with half improvisation and half scene study, and instructors are trained in various acting techniques such as Meisner, Stanislavsky, Adler, and other great masters.

Established in 1979, Young Actors Space is a dedicated performing arts academy for young working and aspiring actors and is also known as “YAS.” It is the original and premier school for young actors and the young at heart and has operated for over the last four decades. YAS THEATRE and YAS THEATRE COMPANY are associated with Young Actors Space, and an annual Summer Production Workshop includes an original play written each year for young actors who come from all over the world to participate. Faculty are associated with co-authoring several books of original scenes and monologues for child and teen actors.
Young Actors Space was founded by Diane Hill Hardin and Nora Eckstein. The current leadership team includes Patrick Day as Director and Instructor, Nora Eckstein as Assistant Director and Instructor, and Elise Tullius as Office Manager and Instructor. Patrick Day is an alumnus of the University of Southern California with a BA in Theatre with an emphasis in Directing, and his teaching methodology is rooted in 35 years of experience as a professional actor, director, and teacher. Nora Eckstein has been coaching and teaching actors since 1980, was a founding teacher at Young Actors Space, and was a partner in Hardin/Eckstein Talent Management for over twenty years, where she coached and mentored a long list of successful young clients. Elise Tullius graduated with her Associate’s Degree in Fine and Performing Arts from Citrus College and her Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from the University of Southern California.
At YAS, the stated belief is that no two performers are the same and that every actor's talent is unique and an essential component of this diverse business. The program describes itself as a process oriented school, with a goal to train actors to make strong choices, get out of their heads and into their hearts, and to nurture and encourage actors of all ages to explore their creativity, build confidence as performers, and hone their craft in a supportive non-judgmental atmosphere. Their method can be broken down into six core segments: Analyze, Memorize, Personalize, Relax, Listen, and React. Online classes also help actors fine tune their “Zoom-chops.”
Young Actors Space is bonded with the State of California, and all instructors have a Child Performer Services Permit under Bond # W150220962.
