About
Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools offers musical theatre classes where students take part in singing, dancing, and acting. The program includes group harmony and solo vocal work, scene study, dance technique, script writing, choreography, theatre games, and movement. It also runs Spring Break and Summer camps, as well as after school programs that focus on musical theatre activities.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Weekly musical theatre classes run alongside the school terms, with Starlight classes for 3–5 years on Saturdays, Spotlight classes for 6–13 years on Saturdays or Sundays, and The Company classes for 13–18 years on Friday evenings for 3 hours over 10 weeks; Spring Break and Summer camps run Monday to Friday with half day (9:15am–12:15pm) options for 4–6 years and full day (9:00am–3:00pm) options for 6–12 years, and each camp week ends with a show for parents on Friday.
• Price: The Company term fee is $570 plus GST with a $100 deposit and a one-time $30 student kit fee for new students; half day camps for 4–6 year olds cost $260 and full day camps for 6–12 year olds cost $425, each with a $50 deposit, and sibling and multiple-camp discounts are available under specified conditions.
Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools states that it teaches musical theatre skills that help students shine on stage and in all aspects of their lives, and that it believes the true value of theatre is found in the process rather than the final production. Camps are led by experienced and energetic staff, and after school programs are led by Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools staff described as talented and experienced. Students in The Company work as a company to create performance pieces throughout the year, and the Spring Term 2026 for The Company is a show term where weekly classes work toward a full musical performed in a theatre in June. Students joining The Company are expected to have a strong interest in performing arts and some past experience with singing, dance, and/or acting, and the program is described as building on Spotlight skills with an emphasis on challenging teens and giving older students skills and confidence for post-secondary training, audition skills and technique, or confidence, poise, and drive in future jobs or endeavours. Camps group students by age, follow the same structure with new themes each week so material does not repeat, and bring together scenes, songs, and dances into a show for friends and family on the last day of camp. An ongoing wait list is kept for full classes, with places offered in the order received as spots open, and registration for new Company students includes a student kit with a t-shirt, bag, and folder/script book for use in classes.
Sibling discounts are offered for Spotlight and The Company classes, with a 50% class discount for all siblings after the first registered student. For camps, siblings registering together receive $25 off half day camps and $50 off full day camps, and students attending more than one camp in a year receive $25 off additional half day camps and $50 off additional full day camps, with the first camp at the regular rate. The first sibling pays the regular fee, second and subsequent siblings receive the discounted rate, sibling and multiple-camp discounts cannot be combined, and the greatest discount is applied, with discounts automatically applied after sign up. The Company fees are subject to GST.
Parent feedback includes comments about increased confidence in group situations, enjoyment of regular classes and camps, and appreciation for teachers being described as excellent, supportive, encouraging, and professional. Parents also describe being impressed by students’ hands-on involvement in script writing and choreography, noticing peer support as students cheer each other on, and mention that staff shared a video of dance moves to support a child with ADHD in practicing at home.
