About

The Middle School Enrichment Program includes apprenticeships, guest speakers, college mentoring, and project-based activities. The program uses the Second Step Curriculum and a modern, web-based curriculum that is responsive to the needs of today’s students and educators. It also offers an A-G college workshop, parent workshops, a Tuesday Food Pantry, a Childcare Healthy Food Program, educational opportunities for teens, adult trainings, financial literacy, and parenting skill building.

The Middle School Enrichment Program is offered as both an after-school and summer program. It focuses on academic preparation and enrichment, personal development and pathways, parent workshops, and field trips. The program uses the Second Step Curriculum to focus on increasing students’ social and emotional skills and decreasing the likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors, with topics that include self-esteem, bullying, peer relationships, emotional management, and substance abuse prevention. It provides an overall foundation for social and school success so students can enter high school ready to learn and succeed.

The organization offering the Middle School Enrichment Program states that its mission is to empower youth, adults and families in a diverse community to achieve well-being, growth and success. The organization notes that 1972 is the year it took root in Novato. Its programs are offered at two centers in Novato; across Novato Unified, Shoreline Unified, and Lagunitas School District campuses; at the Novato Teen Clinic in partnership with Marin Community Clinics; and throughout the Marin County community.

According to North Marin Community Services, 100% of middle school students believe they have a pathway to college after participating in an A-G college workshop. North Marin Community Services also reports that 100% of attendees were satisfied or very satisfied with its parent workshops.
