• Ages: 0–5 years old
Established in 1986, North Bay Children's Center (NBCC) provides high quality child care and early education programs at 12 sites in Marin and Sonoma Counties. Each year, NBCC serves more than 400 children ages 0–5 at these 12 sites. The organization’s mission is to provide comprehensive high-quality child care and early education programs fueled by a vision of excellence and a spirit of innovation, with culturally rich programs, the Garden of Eatin’ program, and strong family, school, and community partnerships. NBCC’s vision is that all children have access to critical, high-quality early learning experiences that build the foundation for healthy productive lives.
The Garden of Eatin’ program is described as a hands-on, living classroom where children plant, harvest, cook, and enjoy what they grow. Through experiences like composting, cooking, and gardening, the program states that children build lifelong healthy habits referred to as “Green Muscle Memory.” The impact of Garden of Eatin’ goes beyond the classroom, with family cook nights and weekly produce distributions. For over 20 years, NBCC has led efforts to bring nutrition and environmental education into early childhood learning.
NBCC notes strong family, school, and community partnerships that support a shared belief in each child’s ability to succeed. A longtime partner and supporter, W. Bradley Electric (WBE) continues to show community commitment and welcomed Novato Mayor Rachel Farac to North Bay Children’s Center for a special storytime with students. WBE was named a 2026 United We Stand Community Building Award honoree by the North Bay Leadership Council. The organization lists specialties that include affordable child care for all incomes, preschool and school readiness, the Garden of Eatin’ program, and opportunities for sponsorships and donations.
