Novato Parents Nursery School is a co-operative Novato preschool where parents and teachers work together. The program includes both structured play experiences and unstructured play experiences. Community playdates are also part of the program.

Novato Parents Nursery School describes itself as child-centered and play-based. Its mission states that families at the school build a community and friendships that last through preschool and beyond. From its earliest days starting in 1968, the community has strived to provide a safe and caring environment for children as they progress toward greater independence and self-reliance. Community playdates are open to the public. The school holds License #210102877. While Novato Parents Nursery School is housed at Novato United Methodist Church, it is not a faith-based program or affiliated with the church. The school states a nondiscriminatory policy as to students, admitting students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and stating that it does not discriminate on these bases in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and other school-administered programs. The program also shares the quote, “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” by Fred Rogers. The school describes itself by saying, “We're not just a preschool, we're a community!”
