Aim High Summer is designed for current 5th–8th grade middle school students who have limited access to summer academic enrichment programs and is committed to a multi-summer learning experience from 5th through 8th grade, with students expected to attend consecutive summers throughout middle school. The program uses restorative practices to prevent and respond to conflict, harm, and wrongdoing, and behavior expectations and interventions are rooted in these restorative practices, guided by CORE values of Community, Opportunity, Respect, and High Expectations. Early Drop Off starting at 8:00am and Extended Care until 5:00pm are offered at the Oakland, San Pablo, Richmond, Napa, San Rafael, and San Jose campuses. Aim High is not equipped with a full SPED department at summer program locations and is unable to provide 1:1 full day support for students. Oakland Unified School District students are directed to apply through Inplay. One parent described Aim High as a lifeline as a working parent, noting that their child experienced both fun and learning, that communication was easy, program offerings were strong, the child enjoyed instructors, and that it gave the child a taste of middle school transitions, different enrichment options, new sports, and mentorship.
