About
Axé Kids Camps & Programs includes daily capoeira movement and capoeira music, along with mindfulness, music, language learning, art, and games. Day camps are offered on seven annual federal holidays when there is no school for OUSD, and campers spend the day in these structured activities. Campers have a 30-minute lunch break at 12:00 p.m., and snacks and water are provided during the day.

• Schedule: Day camps from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on seven annual federal holidays when there is no school for OUSD
• Price: $125.00 for 2026 Axé Kids Day Camps
Campers are asked to pack a lunch each day, and lunch is not provided or sold by Axé Kids Camps & Programs. Campers receive two snacks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, and have unlimited access to water, and they may also bring their own snacks. If a camper has allergies or a special diet, staff should be informed and an alternative snack should be sent with them. Ages 12–17 are welcome to participate as junior counselors.
Axé Kids Camps & Programs is led by Mestre Chipa (Lucivaldo de Oliveira) of Ginga Mundo Capoeira Association, who has been a student of the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira for over 30 years and has taught capoeira for more than 20 years throughout the US, Brazil, and other countries. His stated objective is “to spread knowledge about my culture and history and to share my passion of Capoeira with children and adults in low income, refugee and disadvantaged communities.” He strives to improve the community through in-school, after-school, and other youth programs and is the Champion of the Red Bull Paranae Competition in Barcelona, Spain 2016. Axé Oakland offers Adults & Kids Capoeira Classes as well as Kids Camps & Programs.
