About

Westminster Woods School Programs gives students time discovering micro-organisms in the creek, climbing on the Challenge Course, and gazing at the night sky. The program takes place at Westminster Woods Camp and Conference Center and is part of Westminster Woods’ Environmental Education and Character Development offerings for primary and secondary school students. It offers both overnight and single-day school programs during the year, with activities in a forest setting among coastal redwoods in Sonoma County.

A Westminster Woods Teacher Naturalist describes first visiting Westminster Woods in 4th grade and feeling that it was somewhere they would want to call home forever. Westminster Woods is a nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of donors from the community and is a member of the Russian River Chamber of Commerce. The organization states its mission as “A Sanctuary for Transformative Experiences” and notes that it is celebrating 80 years of Westminster Woods, established in 1946. The Challenge Course includes both low and high elements where participants work on problem-solving and team-building skills.
