Backhausdance was founded in 2003. It is dedicated to creating and performing bold, innovative work that inspires, challenges, and uplifts. Through transformative education and inclusive community engagement, the company empowers the next generation of artists and enriches the cultural pulse of Southern California. Backhausdance has received 10 Lester Horton Awards from Dance Resource Center of Los Angeles and the Outstanding Arts Organization award from Arts Orange County in 2012.

Offers scholarships to over half of the students in the annual summer dance program. Annual summer intensive reaches over 150 students each year. The Summer Intensive provides high-caliber training for aspiring and experienced artists ages 12 to professional.
