Camp Agape California is led by Camp Agape California Directors Jon and Liz. The purpose of Camp Agape California is to help children of incarcerated parents learn to build healthy relationships and create positive life-changing memories and experiences by becoming the best versions of themselves. The program allows kids to be kids through fun activities and facilitates healing and restoration by teaching and equipping them through the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through love, trust, forgiveness, hope, and prayer. In 2005, Camp Agape began as a free kid’s camp exclusively for the children of incarcerated parents on the Island of Oahu. Camp Agape California is a ministry and fiscally sponsored project of Breaking the Cycle CA and is an extended vision from Angel Tree Ministries, with affiliates including Angel Tree Ministries, Camp Agape Arkansas, Camp Agape Big Island, Camp Agape Hawaii, Angel Tree Camp Kauai, Camp Agape Oregon, and Prison Fellowship Ministries. The camp is a free 4-day kid’s camp for California children who have parents in prison, is designed to disrupt the cycle of inter-generational incarceration, and prepares children for a restorative relationship with their parents upon release from jail or prison. The vision is to minister to the children of incarcerated parents in California on a year-round basis.
