Camp Agape California is a free 4-day kid’s camp that offers fun activities for children who have parents in prison. The camp is run by volunteers and supported by generous supporters and donors.

Camp Agape California is led by Camp Agape California Directors Jon and Liz. The program is a ministry and fiscally sponsored project of Breaking The Cycle CA. Camp Agape began in 2005 as a free kid’s camp exclusively for the children of incarcerated parents on the Island of Oahu. Camp Agape California is an extended vision from Angel Tree Ministries, with affiliates that include Angel Tree Ministries, Camp Agape Arkansas, Camp Agape Big Island, Camp Agape Hawaii, Angel Tree Camp Kauai, Camp Agape Oregon, and Prison Fellowship Ministries. Camp Agape California is fueled by a team of volunteers and committed believers.

The stated purpose of Camp Agape California is to help children of incarcerated parents learn to build healthy relationships and create positive life-changing memories and experiences by becoming the best versions of themselves. The camp’s desire is to allow kids to be kids through fun activities and to facilitate healing and restoration by teaching and equipping them through the sharing of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through love, trust, forgiveness, hope, and prayer. The camp is described as a free 4-day kid’s camp for California children who have parents in prison, designed to disrupt the cycle of inter-generational incarceration. Children at Camp Agape California experience spiritual, social, and relational growth, prepare for a restorative relationship with their parents upon release from jail or prison, and learn about trust, love, forgiveness, hope, and prayer. Camp Agape California’s vision is to minister to the children of incarcerated parents in California on a year-round basis.
