About
Sunshine Volleyball Club offers summer beach camps, summer indoor clinics, indoor camps, private lessons, group classes, developmental classes, and training clinics. The program also runs current beach camps that include beach plyos, as well as a High Academic College Camp, tryouts, and tournaments. Sunshine Volleyball Club produces a podcast with Cari Klein on volleyball, school and recruitment, and life as athletes.

Sunshine Volleyball Club was established in 1998. Its mission states that it trains the whole athlete mind, body, and spirit, and that it emphasizes fundamentals of volleyball at a high level within a highly competitive environment, with hard work and family named as core ideals.
The leadership team includes Head Coach Cari Klein, Associate Club Director Kyle Weindel, and Trainer Lou Ann Selsky. Staff experience includes college, high school, and club coaching, as well as playing experience at the high school, collegiate, and national levels. Examples include Lou Ann Selsky, who coached men’s and women’s volleyball at Golden West College for 17 years, won a championship, later became Athletic Director, and was a five-time USVBA All American who won Nationals; and Kyle Weindel, whose 2021 Sunshine 17 Westside team was crowned 17 American National Champion in Las Vegas in his first full season with the club. Other staff have coached or played at programs such as Marymount High School, Riverland Community College, West Potomac High School, Glen A Wilson High School, Rio Hondo College, UCLA, Eastern Kentucky University, Brentwood High School, Palisades High School, Stanford University, Manvel High School, and multiple junior and adult club and national events.
Sunshine Volleyball Club reports that it has grown to 45+ teams across 5 locations and describes itself as the #1 girls’ volleyball club in Southern California, with record numbers of Junior National bids every year. The club reports over 150 bids to USAV Junior Nationals and 25 top five Junior National finishes, including gold medals in 17-Open 2021, 17-American 2021, and 13-American 2015; silver medals in 18-Open 2013, 15-National 2012, and 14-American 2011; and bronze medals in 14-Patriot 2017, 13-Open 2016, 18-National 2013, and 12-National 2012. The club notes hundreds of Division 1, 2, and 3 collegiate recruits, along with AVCA All-Americans, an AVCA Player of the Year, NCAA Champions, and an NCAA Regional Player of the Year.
