About
CodeREV Kids Coding, STEM & Tech Camps and Classes offers hands-on activities in robotics, coding, game design, Minecraft modding, Minecraft level design and engineering, and Roblox Studio game design with VR. Campers can take part in specific courses such as Adventures in Programming, REV Robots, MathCraft Game Design, Modding in Minecraft, App Creators, Video Game Development, 3D Modeling and Animation, Rev Engineering, Wild Web Design, VR Unity 3D Game Design, Coding Drones: Launch for Take Off, 3D Design & Animation, Web Design, App Development, Robotics & Engineering, Lego Mindstorms, and Arduino. The program offers both in-person and virtual tech camps, including live online classes and in-person camps led by expert instructors, with options for project-based learning from home.
• Ages: 6–15 years old
• Schedule: 2.5-hour half-day and 6-hour full-day camp options, with flexibility to choose between week-long half and full day camps, 8-class sessions, single day classes, and 5 Day Class Packs
• Price: While camps at many universities will cost around $1000 per week, these tech camps are priced at nearly half the cost, and virtual camp prices have been reduced by up to $100 per week.
The program’s curriculum is project-based, and campers complete all camp work on their own devices and can take home their creations to continue working on them. Campers are encouraged to bring their own devices, and the organization sends everything needed ahead of camp with videos and support to set up the required software. The curriculum is supported by educational specialists from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the MIT Media Lab and is described as a premier curriculum created by top education technology specialists and engineers, with thousands of students educated online. CodeREV in-person learning takes place through seasonal camps and partnerships at schools, and the program has received recognition as “Best Unique Summer Day Camps.”
Most CodeREV Mentors have between 2–14 years of experience teaching technology to kids and at least 1 year of work experience in the tech sector. Instructors have worked at companies such as Google, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Sony, Sega, and Riot Games, and only instructors with at least 5 years of teaching CodeREV tech courses and real-world tech work experience are described as the most elite instructors. The program’s stated mission is “Empowering Students to become Tomorrow's Creators, Designers, Programmers, and Developers.”
