First Congregational Church Nursery School offers indoor and outdoor free-play time, including access to an art room, dramatic play area, manipulatives, and a sandbox. The program uses large, bright classrooms and an extensive outdoor play area leased from the First Congregational Church, and children enter through a gate each morning. Each year, a cohort of 20 children is admitted to the Nursery program, which serves as an introduction to play in a small group setting. The Olders class includes pre-academic readiness activities that support transition and integration into the kindergarten environment. In the Olders Extended Day Program, students eat lunch brought from home at First Congo before walking with teachers to either the Palo Alto Art Center or the Palo Alto Jr. Museum and Zoo, in partnership with these organizations.
