Palo Alto Swim and Sport states that it has a proprietary way of teaching and a method for delivering the service in a way that meets the needs of every student, and describes its swim instructors as a family of professionals who are highly trained and talented and who use a team approach to move children through the learning process. Instructors go through multiple weeks of training to gain experience with every age and skill level, complete training with a master instructor trainer before teaching solo, are cross-trained with current instructors, and attend ongoing training throughout the year. Master Instructors have over 5 years of experience teaching swim lessons. Bri Cavanagh, Head of Swim School, has been a swim instructor since 2016 teaching skills from novice to advanced for students as young as 4 months old up to adults, and has been an aquatics manager since 2021, training and developing swim instructors. Alex has been teaching swim lessons and coaching the Bridge Swim Program since 2024, swam competitively for 10 years with PASA, and now rows with NorCal Crew.
Palo Alto Swim and Sport reports that it has taught 750,000 lessons in the past 10 years and has been operating in Menlo Park for 11 years. The organization states that its mission is to build a strong and robust aquatic culture in a community by introducing youth to the joys of water early in life, instilling solid swim fundamentals, and providing programs that match their development, and that it views learning to swim as a once-in-a-lifetime achievement and wants that learning to be an extremely positive and memorable experience for every member of the family. Tim Sheeper is the Founder and Owner of Palo Alto Swim and Sport.
Palo Alto Swim and Sport is the exclusive swim lesson and summer swim camp provider for the City of Palo Alto. It partners with the Beyond Barriers Athletic Foundation (BBAF) to offer scholarships to those financially in need who want to develop a life-long love for swimming, and BBAF will be offering swim lesson scholarships for group swim lessons Levels 1–4 at Rinconada Pool. Palo Alto Swim and Sport is also an affiliate of the Beyond Barriers Athletic Foundation (BBAF) and Challenged Athlete Foundation (CAF).
