Parents Nursery School

Parents Nursery School offers part-time, play-based nursery school programs that include activities such as play-based learning, Wednesday Play Day, and a Stay & Play program. The program also hosts an Open House and includes classroom time where parents work alongside teachers in Two's/Young Three's and Mixed Age classes.

• Schedule: Open House on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm, with a Stay & Play program that extends the school day until 2:15 pm

Parents Nursery School is a non-profit, parent-driven co-op nursery school established in 1949. It offers part-time, play-based nursery school programs for children ages 2–5 and their families, with parents working alongside trained teachers in the classroom one day each week in the Two's/Young Three's and Mixed Age classes. Parents attend evening parent education meetings about once a month, and the school is organized and administered by parents and guided by trained teachers. The school’s mission states that it provides a nurturing, developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum where students develop in areas such as creativity, cooperation, peaceful conflict resolution, and kindergarten readiness, and that its success depends on the collaborative efforts of all members. Parents Nursery School is a nonprofit organization that states it does not discriminate by race, color, national or ethnic origin, creed, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability or status in its policies or programs. The community includes a diverse group of families from Palo Alto and the surrounding areas, and testimonials from parents describe experiences with the teachers, community, and programs such as the play yard with friendly chickens and the Wednesday Play Day and Stay & Play options.
