Ranger Taekwondo was established in March 2016. The founders, Dennis and Ben Moon, have taught Taekwondo for four decades and have a combined 60 years of Taekwondo experience. The program is described as a martial arts school and as “Best in the Bay.”

Master Dennis Moon is a 6th Degree Black Belt certified by Kukkiwon, started Taekwondo at age 4, has over 30 years of experience in Taekwondo, has taught students of all ages, and has competed in Olympic Sparring at Junior Olympic-level competitions. He serves as a Sergeant in the United States Army’s Special Operations Command with the 75th Ranger Regiment, is a US Army Special Operations Soldier, and has completed five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Master Ben Moon is a 6th Degree Black Belt certified by Kukkiwon, started Taekwondo at age 5, has over 30 years of experience in Taekwondo, and has participated in Olympic Sparring at Junior Olympic-level competitions. He is a US Army veteran of the 1st and 4th Infantry Divisions and served as an Infantry Rifleman, Team Leader, and Squad Leader supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. His Taekwondo competition record includes being a 2-time USA Taekwondo Nationals Competitor (2014 and 2006), 3-time USA Taekwondo National Qualifier (2014, 2009, and 2006), 1-time AAU California State Champion (2007), 1-time Collegiate Pac-West Champion (2006), and 3-time Korean National Sports Festival Champion (2009, 2007, and 2005).

The leadership team lists Dennis and Ben Moon as the founders and instructors. The program states that it combines intense circuit training with a detailed regimen of Olympic-style Taekwondo, focusing on physical fitness, agility, and proper technique, and that it instills discipline, self-confidence, respect, and leadership values beyond the training mat. Ranger Taekwondo notes that, as Olympic Taekwondo has evolved, it has embraced the changing culture while staying true to core values of Taekwondo. It also states that it is part of a community for children and adults to learn and train in a safe space.
