Pasadena Tennis Association NJTL Program is an NJTL (National Junior Tennis & Learning) Chapter with a focus on youth, tennis, and education, and is a USTA Member NJTL Chapter supported by the USTA Foundation. The coaching staff are USTPR and RSPA Certified Coaches and are USTA Safe Play Approved, with a player-to-coach ratio of about 4–8 students to 1 coach. Family Tennis Play Days are free and open to the public and bring families and the community together, and the program offers a Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) family discount and PUSD team member specials. The program uses Red, Orange, Green Dot, and Yellow Balls with USTA Youth Progression and Net Generation, and it has been serving Pasadena since 1997, with Pasadena Tennis selected as an NJTL Chapter in 2018. Limited loaner equipment is available and students are asked to bring their own racquet, and parents are reminded to keep children home to rest if they are feeling unwell. The USTA Foundation has treated players to a special morning at the Yonex Tennis Pop-Up Store and provided gifts. The program’s stated mission is “Creating change in and through the sport of tennis” (tm).
