NCGA Junior Golf Programs include NCGA JUNIORS Events, Junior Tour of Northern California tournaments, NCGA NEXT tournaments, Team Northern California, and Get Into Golf, all centered around playing golf. NCGA JUNIORS offers seven single-day and seven two-day flighted events that are open to NCGA Juniors who meet membership and handicap requirements. The Junior Tour of Northern California hosts more than 50 tournaments each year throughout Northern California for qualified junior golfers.

To play in an NCGA JUNIORS Event, participants must have a current NCGA Junior membership via Youth On Course, an established Handicap Index at the time of entry, a Handicap Index of 6.1 or higher for girls and 4.1 or higher for boys on the day of registration, be between 9–18 years old by tournament day (with possible exemption for players under 9), and not have started college. To play in a Junior Tour of Northern California tournament, participants must have a current NCGA or Youth On Course membership, pay the 2026 Junior Tour Membership Fee of $85, complete Mandatory Rules and Etiquette Curriculum, have an established Handicap Index at the time of entry, have an index of 4.0 or lower for boys and 6.0 or lower for girls, be between 10–18 years old by tournament day (with possible exemption for players under 10), and not have started college. NCGA NEXT is an exclusive, discounted membership for golfers ages 19–25 that costs $48 per year.
The NCGA’s mission is to inspire all to enjoy the benefits of golf by providing innovative programs and services. The Junior Tour of Northern California was founded in 2008, and the NCGA’s roots date back to April 5, 1901. The NCGA Foundation created Youth on Course in 2006, and Youth on Course has expanded nationwide and beyond. The NCGA completed a unification in 2020 with the Women’s Golf Association of Northern California (WGANC) and the Pacific Women’s Golf Association (PWGA) to jointly support and promote women’s golf. The NCGA Foundation champions programs that support youth, underserved communities, and other golf organizations united around shared goals, and it partners with facilities so that a diverse group of 23,000 young people can enjoy affordable games through Youth on Course. Team Northern California is a golf team that will expand the pipeline for elite local golfers into the U.S. National Development Program (USNDP), a program launched by the United States Golf Association (USGA). The Junior Tour of Northern California was jointly created by the NCGA and the Northern California PGA chapter.
NCGA owns two golf courses, Poppy Hills and Poppy Ridge, and Poppy Hills was the first course owned and operated by an amateur golf association in the U.S. Poppy Hills is a PGA Tour and USGA Championship venue and is listed in Golf Digest’s Greatest Public Courses Top 100. NCGA offers Northern California golfers of all ages and abilities hundreds of events, tournaments, and outings, manages hundreds of golf events for players of all ages and abilities, oversees the Rules of Golf, administers USGA handicaps, and sponsors exclusive golf discounts. NCGA has over 185,000 members belonging to over 1,300 golf clubs, and it has a diverse group of 23,000 young people who enjoy affordable games in partnership with Youth on Course facilities. NCGA Golf Magazine was named the Best Publication for its category two years in a row by ING Media for 2021 and 2022, and in 2025 it won an Outstanding Achiever Award.
