Flag football in this program is described as a non-contact sport that offers safe, fun gameplay for kids of all ages and experience levels, with programs available in both Santa Rosa and Petaluma. The program includes options from recreational to competitive levels, uses well-trained volunteer coaches, and follows a structure similar to Little League with a tryout and draft. The organization describes itself as local and part of a national team, with an emphasis on consistent communication and making participation easier for families.
Equipment for players includes a uniform with an official Gridiron jersey top and shorts, a mouthguard, a flag belt, and a soft-shell helmet, with the flag belt and some items provided with the uniform when purchased during registration. Gear requirements for flag football are a mouthguard, shorts without pockets, and a flag belt, and for 7v7 football a mouthguard, shorts without pockets, and a softshell helmet, with optional items such as helmets, cleats, gloves, arm sleeves, and other gear that does not interfere with player safety.
Gridiron Football - Sonoma County has been serving the communities of Petaluma and Santa Rosa for more than 10 years and describes itself as the best youth football in Sonoma County for more than 10 years. The league is led by commissioners John and Dante. One parent testimonial states, “The season was an absolute blast. The program is so good for all of these kids. My son will be a part of this for as long as possible and we'll continue sharing Gridiron with other kids and families. Ready for next season.”
