Center of Gravity offers hands-on purposeful play where children work with materials and ideas through exploration and experimentation. Center of Gravity describes itself as a diverse group of educators, families, researchers, and public-private community partners who are invested in creating a space and place for community, creativity, and innovation. The program states that it endeavors to engage, encourage, and empower all children, families, and teachers to delight and design new possibilities in the world, for the betterment of people within local and global communities in the 21st century. It follows a Socio-Constructivist Inspired Approach and emphasizes multi-variant diversity and inclusion, relationship-based education, and building strong relationships with families. Center of Gravity also states that it uses a developmentally, culturally, and linguistically responsive curriculum, values observation, documentation, and reflection as important data, and highlights the importance of a beautiful and functional environment.
