Pleasanton Bilingual Montessori Preschool has been in operation since 2013. The school states that it is committed to the childhood years from 15 months to 6 years old, including kindergarten, and that it has two school locations in Pleasanton.
The leadership team includes Ms. Lena, Director since 2013; Ms. Huang, Assistant Director since 2014; and Ms. Anushiya David, Program Director since 2016. Ms. Lena holds an early childhood education director permit, is MTEC Montessori certified, and has worked in roles including Montessori lead teacher, preschool coordinator, assistant director, and director for more than 17 years. Ms. Huang has over 10 years of experience working with children, has worked as a Montessori lead teacher, and obtained her early childhood credential from the Montessori Training Education Center (MTEC) in California. Ms. Anushiya earned a master’s degree in education, completed her early childhood credential at MTEC, and has over 15 years of experience working with children. All PBMP teachers are described as well qualified with backgrounds in early childhood education and Montessori training, meeting or exceeding California licensing requirements and background checks. Staff members have taken courses in early childhood development and/or are pursuing an AA or BS in child development or related fields, and staff are certified in CPR and First Aid with training renewed every two years.
The school states that it is committed to providing children with a comfortable, peaceful, safe, and stimulating environment where they can begin to learn a second language naturally. Its mission describes a focus on equipping children with an educational foundation that supports independence, critical thinking, self-discipline, and an atmosphere of emotional and physical security where children’s worth is acknowledged and respected. The mission also states that the school aspires to embody and uphold the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori and to offer an environment where children can reach their potential, develop independent thought, and make contributions to society and the world.
The program environment includes abundant spaces for children to play and explore, a play structure that combines natural-themed adventure elements with durable, high-quality play equipment, and high-quality wooden floors in all classrooms that are cleaned daily. The school reports that it follows strict hygiene standards and standard protocols to support cleanliness. It also notes that it has well managed 24-hour CCTV access and describes the school as fully secured.
Pleasanton Bilingual Montessori Preschool provides nutritious, high quality breakfast, hot lunch, and snacks. Meals include fresh vegetables and fruits, nonfat or low-fat dairy milk, lean chicken, and whole grain cereals and bread. The Hot Lunch Program is cooked at school every weekday, and a lunch menu is provided every month in the school app. Snacks are usually crackers, biscuits, and fruits and are provided free of charge. The school is described as a completely nut-free environment and states that it strictly prohibits food that contains nuts, nut products, eggs, and seafood. Families who choose to pack lunch from home are asked to pack a well-balanced, nutritional meal that excludes candy, highly sugared foods, salt, and preservatives.
A parent testimonial reports that both the parent’s son and daughter attended the preschool, with the son starting at age 2 and the daughter starting at 18 months. The parent describes positive experiences with the staff, notes that the teachers are loving and caring, and mentions that the family likes the Montessori method of teaching. The testimonial states that the son became interested in math and, by the time he graduated, had learned addition and subtraction within 100, and that the daughter cried only one day at the beginning and loves the school. The parent concludes the testimonial by recommending the school to parents interested in Montessori.
