Tradición Dance Company focuses on Mexican folk dance and performance skills and techniques. The program’s performers are exposed to the Mexican art form and traditional dances as part of their training. It is described as one of the largest and most influential Mexican folk-dance companies in the Inland Empire.
The company was founded in 2010 by Founder & Artistic Director Manuel Vizcarra Jr., and almost 15 years later the dance company has grown. It was formed with the purpose of providing an extra-curricular activity and a judgement-free and inclusive space for the youth in his community. The instructional staff’s vision and artistic creations are described as inspiring diverse audiences with choreographic works that instill cultural pride in their artists. Tradición Dance Company is part of the Downtown Pomona Arts Colony and is formed by artists who share similar interests in the Mexican cultural dance arts.
