Elm Park Preschool Academy includes hands-on exploration and structured learning using the Mother Goose Time curriculum, Zoo-phonics, and the Experience Early Learning Curriculum. The program also incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, ARTs and Math) activities throughout the school year.
• Ages: 2–6 years old
Elm Park Preschool Academy provides childcare for children 2–6 years of age in a smaller setting with a maximum of 12 children per classroom. The program uses Zoo-phonics for phonemic awareness, pre-writing, pre-reading, and spelling skills, along with Experience Early Learning Curriculum to teach core content standards aligned with California state standards and Poway Unified School District standards. A touch of STEAM is incorporated throughout the entire school year, and students are observed and/or informally assessed so that progress is monitored throughout the year. Children attend small classes geared for kindergarten readiness, and teachers are trained to use positive reinforcement and redirection in the classroom for behavior modification.
Elm Park teachers are required to have an educational background in early childhood education and first aid/CPR certification, and they pass background checks and are encouraged to continue training in the field. The leadership team includes Mrs. Denise, Administrator; Ms. Elli, Director; Ms. Molica, teacher; Ms. Ana, teacher; Mrs. Rashida, teacher; and Mrs. Rosalie, Permanent Substitute teacher. The program’s stated goal is to offer a loving and nurturing environment where children can enjoy learning through positive experiences and hands-on exploration, with encouragement for children to make friends, take turns, and learn to problem-solve. The mission of Elm Park Preschool Academy is to prepare children academically, socially, and emotionally to enter the Poway Unified School District while encouraging a love of learning. Elm Park Preschool Academy is now enrolling for the 2024–2025 school year.
