Impact Martial Arts was formerly known as Poway ATA Martial Arts. The academy is described as a state of the art training facility. Impact Martial Arts is a proud member of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA). The mission statement says, “Our goal is to inspire each and every member to achieve Black Belt Excellence by providing” a state of the art training facility, a comprehensive martial arts curriculum, and highly skilled and motivated instructors.

The leadership team includes Jordan Nguyen, a 7th Degree Black Belt who serves as Director-Chief Instructor and National Certified Instructor; Hoa Nguyen, a 5th Degree Black Belt who serves as Chief Instructor and National Certified Instructor; and Stacey Nguyen, a 5th Degree Black Belt who serves as Program Director and National Certified Instructor. All instructors are nationally certified, have passed an intensive certification process, and all certified instructors are background checked.

Impact Martial Arts describes itself as a premier martial arts academy dedicated to the Korean martial art discipline of Taekwondo and also offers Kickboxing, Krav Maga, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to support well-rounded martial arts training. The program states a focus on providing the highest martial arts instruction available in a safe and positive learning environment that people of all ages can enjoy. It notes that programs are always evolving to keep pace with the rapidly changing world, that individual attention is a feature of each class, that there are excellent student/instructor ratios, and that one-on-one private lessons are available to all students. The teaching curriculum is based on “positive mental attitude” and “high goal setting,” and instructors state that they take their responsibility seriously as role models for younger students, teaching the importance of strong character, leadership, and good values. A free introductory lesson is offered, and free trials and schedule information are available via a form.

Parent testimonials describe experiences at Impact Martial Arts. One parent, Terese Tye, states that her son has been training there for two years, that she loves the instructors and the way they interact with students, and that her son receives both physical and character training, and she reports being very happy with his growth at Impact Martial Arts in Poway. Another grandparent, Abrahim Abdul Rahim, states that the school is great for his granddaughter, that all the instructors are knowledgeable, and that they have patience. A parent named Tim P. writes that, although he first thought of self-defense when hearing “martial arts,” he feels the studio has gone beyond that in the development of his children, and he believes confidence is the number one benefit his children have gained. He describes his 9-year-old son becoming a 2nd degree black belt and preparing to compete in world championships, and his 7-year-old daughter gaining self-confidence, strength, and flexibility. He states that Black Belt is a title their kids will have for a lifetime and that he recommends Impact 100%, noting that he does not work for the studio and that his review is authentic.
