About
Invictus Krav Maga Kids Program offers classes that focus on Krav Maga, self-defense, fitness, and martial arts. The program is described as a fun, encouraging alternative to traditional martial arts self-defense classes for kids. Krav Maga for children in this program uses tools and techniques tailored for situations that commonly confront kids at school, on the playground, and in life, and classes stress self-defense, fitness, and confidence while focusing on real world needs to keep kids engaged in the learning process. Invictus Krav Maga offers separate classes for three age groups: Kids, Youth, and JR.

Invictus Krav Maga Kids Program is part of an IKMF training facility. The program’s mission statement is “Train As If Your Life Depends On It. Build skill and real-world readiness at the largest IKMF training facility west of the Mississippi.” The owner, John Montalbano, is also the USA Director for the International Krav Maga Federation (IKMF) and is recognized as a Lead Civilian Instructor by the IKMF. John has been training in Krav Maga since 2012, became an IKMF Civilian Instructor in 2018, earned his KIDS Instructor certification in 2021, and completed the STAY AWAY! Women’s Self-Defense Instructor course in 2022; he is one of only three instructors in California certified to teach the STAY AWAY! program and one of only two individuals west of the Mississippi to hold the Lead Civilian Instructor title. Additional instructors include Fred Williams, a certified IKMF Krav Maga Instructor who started training in 2015; Ute Hummler, an Expert 1 Instructor who started training Krav Maga in late 2017; Yarik Ivaniuk, who began martial arts training in 2013 in Judo and Japanese Jiu Jitsu under Heiko Rommelmann Jr. and has competed in Judo and powerlifting tournaments; and Brian Koll, who began Krav Maga training in 2015 under IKMF Expert 2 Drew Goodwin. Uniform purchase is required for memberships, and a groin guard and uniform are required when using the daily drop-in option to attend class on a periodic basis.
