Poway OnStage Arts in Education

Poway OnStage Arts in Education offers the Arts in Education Initiative for children in grades K-12, Field Trips called "ArtsEd OnStage," in-school workshops for local 2nd grade students, and a one-week March Musical Theater Production. It also includes Introduction to Instruments for 4th graders, Master Classes for children and adults, Youth Tickets for children ages 5-18, and the Master Classes/Assembly: Music FUNdamentals program for students.

Programs

• Arts in Education Initiative — children in grades K-12 · Each year; six-part program
• Field Trips - "ArtsEd OnStage" — area students · Educational field trip program in conjunction with the Professional Performance Series; provides high quality performing arts experiences and study guides for teachers.
• In-School Workshops — local 2nd grade students · Also in March of every year · Workshops with Missoula Children’s Theatre Educator/Directors serving more than 600 local 2nd grade students; includes an in-school Musical Theater Experience.
• Musical Theater Production — children · One week each March · Poway OnStage hosts over 60 children in a week-long 'audition to production' Musical Theater Experience at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
• Introduction to Instruments — 4th graders · Interactive educational assembly introducing the different families of musical instruments; designed to inspire students to choose an instrument and join the 5th grade band.
• Master Classes — children and adults · Up-close and personal experiences with nationally and internationally known performing artists, including demonstrations and time for questions and answers.
• Youth Tickets — children ages 5-18 · Discounted tickets for each show in the Professional Performance Series.
• Master Classes/Assembly: Music FUNdamentals — students · Assembly program that is part rock concert, part music class and all fun; teaches tempo, rhythm, and major/minor chords with an uplifting, positive message.

About the provider

Poway OnStage has offered Arts in Education programming since 1999. It provides performing arts programs to San Diego County schools and works in collaboration with the Poway Unified School District. All of its Arts in Education programming is offered at little or no cost to participants because of community support.
