Poway OnStage Arts in Education offers in-school workshops, classes with visiting artists, a one-week, all-expenses-paid theater camp, and field trips through the ArtsEd OnStage and Virtual Performance Curriculum. The program includes a Musical Theater Residency, an in-school Musical Theater Experience, a week-long “audition to production” Musical Theater Experience, Introduction to Instruments, Master Classes, Youth Tickets, and an educational assembly that introduces 4th graders to the different families of musical instruments. Participants take part in activities such as acting skills, improvisation, teamwork, demonstrations of work by nationally and internationally known performing artists, and questions and answers with performing artists.

• Schedule: For one week each March, Poway OnStage hosts over 60 children in a week-long “audition to production” Musical Theater Experience on stage at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts.
Since 1999, Poway OnStage, in collaboration with the Poway Unified School District, has offered its Arts in Education Initiative to children in grades K–12 each year. This six-part program is designed to broaden children’s knowledge of the performing arts, thereby enhancing their academic, social, and intellectual growth. Poway OnStage provides performing arts programs to San Diego County schools and is the non-profit organization responsible for booking professional artists into the city-owned Poway Center for the Performing Arts, assembling a line-up of marquee talent from drama, dance, music, comedy, and more each year.
Poway OnStage schedules workshops with Missoula Children’s Theatre Educator/Directors that serve more than 600 local 2nd grade students with an in-school Musical Theater Experience, and every year brings the nationally recognized Missoula Children’s Theatre to the community. Introduction to Instruments is designed to inspire students to choose an instrument and join the 5th grade band, serving 2,600 4th graders with participation by over 200 high school band students, where local high school band and orchestra students serve as mentors to students from 25 elementary schools in the Poway Unified School District. The Master Class series has the stated goal of providing up-close and personal experiences with nationally and internationally known performing artists, and these dynamic workshops are aligned with California State Visual and Performing Arts Standards. Youth Tickets are offered to children ages 5–18 at a significantly discounted cost for each show in the Professional Performance Series, and all of the Arts in Education programming is offered at little or no cost to participants because of the support of the community.
