Portuguese Bend Nursery School

Portuguese Bend Nursery School is a parent-participation co-operative preschool. Families work together to run the school, and the program is a three-day-a-week preschool that meets Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. during the school year from September through June.

About the provider

The school was founded in 1953 and was licensed by the State Department of Social Services in 1958. It is guided by a professionally trained Director/Teacher and Teacher, and Sandy Holderman is the Director/Yellow Bird Teacher. The school is operated by the families it serves, and parent-members are responsible for its organization and administration.

Accepts incoming children in their first year of preschool (3–4 year olds) for the Yellow Bird class if age 3 as of November 30. If there are openings for the Red Bird class, children must be 4 years old by September 1. Monthly dues are $225 September through June. Annual fundraising goal is approximately $450. Parents who enrolled Yellow Birds do not need to fill out the online form if their child/children will be returning as Red Birds. Early enrollment inquiries are not accepted.
