The Wyland Foundation, established in 1993, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, protecting, and preserving the world’s ocean, waterways, and marine life. Its programs include the Clean Water Mobile Learning Experience and the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge, which has involved 50 states and 2,000 cities, saved 1 billion gallons through kids’ water pledges, and reduced plastic use by 4.1 million bottles. The Mobile Learning Center has reached underserved communities and has educated 1 million students, while the National Art Challenge has engaged over 20,000 K–12 students from 500 schools and 45 states. The foundation describes its programs as award winning and focused on inspiring environmental stewardship, and shares messages such as “Teachers inspired my love for our oceans and environment. Let's pay it forward to the next generation,” and “You don’t need to live near the ocean to protect it. Most pollution starts upstream—and with simple choices, we can all help keep our waters clean.”
