About
Red Bank Outdoor Academy offers week-long camps where campers practice outdoor recreation skills, conservation skills, hunter safety education, firearm safety, and marksmanship. Campers take part in the California Hunter’s Education Course, learn first aid and wildlife management, and spend time at the archery, rifle, and shotgun ranges. Activities also include fishing for bass and bluegill, sporting clays, and learning outdoor skills and safety in a classroom setting.
• Ages: 9–15 years old
• Schedule: Week-long summer camps, with multiple Level I, Level II, and Level I & II combo sessions offered each summer
Red Bank Outdoor Academy is described as the West Coast’s premier hunting and conservation-based summer camp for boys and girls ages 9–15, with two levels of camp experience: Level I and Level II Advanced Camp, where Level II offers more hands-on training and less classroom time. Each summer, six camps are offered, and each camp houses over 35 students in week-long, highly supervised camps where kids stay all week and experience every aspect the outdoors has to offer, including access to 11 bass and bluegill fishing ponds, an archery range, rifle range, trap range, a custom swimming pool with wading area, seating area, and waterfall, fully automated trap machines, and an 18-station sporting clay course for advanced campers. The ranch facilities used by the program also include separate lodging for boys and girls with private bathrooms and showers, a full-service kitchen and dining room serving family-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner with menu items such as burgers, tri-tip, tacos, and spaghetti, as well as a 40-dog kennel, wild game processing facility, and a 4,000 sq. ft. covered patio.
Red Bank Outdoor Academy states that its mission is to preserve the outdoor legacy by providing youth with the highest-level, hands-on instructional outdoor opportunities so they can experience hunting and fishing opportunities, learn the importance of wildlife conservation, and build safety and outdoor skills that will last a lifetime. Red Bank Outdoor Academy references 28 years safely operating kids summer camps with a perfect safety record, and Red Bank Outfitters and the Riley family have provided outdoor education and activities for youth in Northern California for 28 years, with Red Bank Outfitters involved in youth programs since 1998 and having a rich history of over 50 years as one of the oldest hunting clubs in California, founded in 1965. Over the last twenty-seven years, the program has become a hunter education course with a clean safety record for all 28 years of camp, and Level I campers who pass the test earn a California State Hunter Education Certificate upon completing the weeklong course.
All Red Bank Outdoor Academy and Red Bank Outfitters staff are CPR and First Aid certified. RBOA’s lead firearms instructors have extensive knowledge regarding all types of firearms, have completed the highest level training at Gunsite in Arizona, and are certified Level One National Sporting Clay Instructors and NRA Pistol, Rifle, and Shotgun Instructors.
