Casa Circulo Cultural Youth Programs takes place at a cultural center that is part of a grassroots, community-based multidisciplinary art organization. Casa Circulo Cultural was founded in 2009 by Veronica Escamez. Its mission is to create bilingual arts, cultural, and educational programming that reflects the experiences of San Francisco Bay Area Latino communities, with programs that reflect the Latino experience in this region and a Spanish immersion program with classes mainly taught in Spanish. The organization uses a whole-family approach that involves both youth and parents and is described as a safe and trusted source for culturally conscious information and developmental opportunities.

Casa Circulo Cultural hosts or collaborates with community organizations to offer workshops, webinars, field trips, pop-up classes, and public events that provide free resources, education, fun, and connections. In November, Casa Círculo Cultural organizes and hosts the Día de los Muertos Celebration in downtown Redwood City, which is described as one of the city’s most significant celebrations of arts, diversity, and culture, and it has also collaborated with the San Francisco Symphony for a Day of the Dead Concert. The organization has partnered with the Redwood City School District to provide an Extended Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). Casa Circulo Cultural and its founder, Veronica Escamez, have received recognition including the 2022 Ohtli Award from the Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco, the 2017 La Familia Award from The Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, and multiple Certificates of Recognition and Special Congressional Recognition from the State of California Senate, the California State Legislature Assembly, United States Members of Congress Anna Eshoo and Jackie Speier, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Redwood City, the Redwood City 2020 Welcoming Star Award, and resolutions and commendations from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
