About
Stanford Online High School uses a live, online discussion seminar format on a college-style schedule. Most classes meet twice a week on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, language classes meet three times a week, and classes do not meet on Fridays. Students take courses through a highly interactive virtual classroom platform, and each course has a Stanford OHS transcript.

- General schedule: Stanford OHS uses a two-semester system (Fall and Spring) and runs on an extended school day, 6:00 am to 10:00 pm Pacific Time, with most courses falling between 7:15 am and 9:00 pm Pacific Time.
About the provider
Stanford Online High School was founded in 2006, and its first graduating class was in 2007. The middle-school program was added in 2009. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), and it was granted membership to the Council of International Schools (CIS) in 2022. The head of school is Tomohiro Hoshi, Ph.D. The mission of Stanford Online High School is to foster a worldwide community of intellectually adventurous students and teachers.
Students are expected to be present and participate actively in each live class meeting. Students must attend the specific section in which they are enrolled. Students who miss more than 20% of discussion sessions per semester may not receive credit for the semester. Parents/guardians may not sit in on classes. Tuition for 2026–27: Full-Time $31,900, Part-Time $19,140, Single Course $6,380. Tuition covers courses, academic planning, counseling, and most student life activities; it does not cover books, course materials, or extracurricular expenses for event attendance, yearbooks, etc.
