The Kumon Math and Reading Program uses math worksheets, reading worksheets, pencil holding exercises, counting, writing numbers, and mental calculations. Children work on addition, subtraction, arithmetic, fractions, and decimals, and use “look, listen and repeat” worksheets. They also identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives, use these parts of speech within sentences, and may study complex texts in literature, including by completing math, reading, and English worksheets using a tablet and stylus through Kumon Connect.

Kumon is a structured, proven self-learning program that offers individualized instruction using small-step worksheets. Kumon Connect is a digital platform that lets students complete their math, reading, and English worksheets using a tablet and stylus, provides daily grading and real-time progress tracking, and eliminates paper clutter with no additional fees, and it requires a tablet and stylus to complete worksheets. A no-cost assessment at orientation helps the instructor determine an appropriate starting point and provides a recommended progression path for the first six months, and the instructor prepares an individualized lesson plan and supports children as they progress. Kumon Programs are used worldwide, and the worksheets used around the world are all based on the same approach, and virtual classes are available in many locations. Kumon serves preschool through high school, and the role of a Kumon Instructor is to bring out the potential in each individual.
