Soccer Shots is a children’s soccer program where kids take part in soccer, including age-appropriate soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. The program also includes competitive play that builds on these fundamental soccer activities. Sessions take place in a safe environment called Soccer Island.
• Ages: 1–8 years old
Soccer Shots states that its mission as the premier Children’s Soccer Experience is to positively impact children’s lives. The program uses a high-energy format that introduces fundamental soccer principles such as using feet to control the ball, dribbling, and basic rules of the game. Sessions include songs, fun games, creative and imaginative games, and positive reinforcement, with a focus on positive character traits such as respect, teamwork, and appreciation. The curriculum is expert-designed, developmentally appropriate, and aligns with early childhood education standards, and it is created under the guidance of childhood education specialists, professional soccer players, and experienced and licensed soccer coaches. The curriculum is constantly re-evaluated and updated to stay current with childhood education standards and includes a version specifically for school-aged children that builds on skills and introduces competitive play, with games and team competitions that challenge children.
Every Soccer Shots coach must complete a comprehensive training program to receive certification. All coaches are trained in the use of developmentally appropriate techniques, are routinely evaluated, and undergo ongoing training. Soccer Shots partners with local childcare centers, preschools, elementary schools, and other organizations to bring soccer to more children. Through partnerships with the U.S. Soccer Foundation, Nike, and other organizations, Soccer Shots aims to impact children and communities across the U.S. and the world. Soccer Shots is consistently recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine as the #1 Children’s Fitness Franchise in the U.S. Soccer Shots Franchising, LLC is based in central Pennsylvania, just east of Harrisburg.
Soccer Shots was formed in 1997. In 2005, it began franchising and opened its first four franchises in Ohio, Delaware, Florida, and Pennsylvania. From its beginnings, Soccer Shots has grown to over 300 territories across 43 states and 2 Canadian provinces, with over 560,000 enrollments in its programming in 2023. The founding partners are Jeremy Sorzano and Jason Webb, and in May of 2009, Justin Bredeman became the third Soccer Shots partner.
Parents have shared feedback about the program. One parent from Kalamazoo, Michigan, described watching a daughter move from holding a hand to running to the coach on Soccer Island, and noted that the child was learning soccer skills, taking turns, independence, and how to cheer for others. A parent from Phoenix, Arizona, said their instructor was great and that they signed up for the summer season. A parent from Dallas, Texas, described the coaches and program as amazing and noted seeing growth in a daughter over the months she had been with Soccer Shots.
