ReCreate Educational Programs is a nonprofit organization founded in 2008. Its mission is to reduce waste in the community and inspire others to do the same through art, education, and imagination. The organization provides low-cost, innovative learning and enrichment programs that span from preschool through high school and uses materials diverted from landfill to educate about reduce, reuse, and recycle.

ReCreate works with businesses and individuals in the region to divert clean, usable but unwanted items, collecting safe and clean materials from local businesses to stock a Craft Thrift Store and Studio and to source supplies for education programs. The ReUse Store offers goods for knitters, crafters, teachers, costume-makers, scrap-bookers, and holiday-decoration enthusiasts at thrift store prices, and proceeds from the store and studio help bring programs to more schools in the region. Each year, ReCreate diverts approximately 65 tons of unwanted but perfectly usable items from entering the landfill.

ReCreate brings hands-on exploration of STEAM learning and its More Art, Less Waste environmental arts education program to schools throughout the greater Sacramento region, reaching over 10,000 elementary school students each year. The organization operates the GeniusMobile to bring hands-on project-based STEAM learning to schools and offers Family Maker Nights as hands-on activities that can be hosted at schools or sites. ReCreate also operates the Rolling ReCreate truck at fairs, festivals, or special events held by local businesses such as IKEA or Whole Foods, providing materials and tools for a free, on-the-spot art experience, where fun facilitators use glue guns and creativity to engage participants.
