Adventure Recreation Gymnastics is led by Coach Andrea, an entrepreneur, coach, and community spokesperson who has operated toddler programs, gymnastics, and Ninja Warrior, and who started an Xcel team in 2023. Coach Andrea graduated from Humboldt State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s in Recreation Administration and a Minor in Business, bought and operated Athletics Unlimited for five years starting at age 26, and developed an alternative elementary school program for first through sixth grade during Covid. The coaching staff includes Coach Laini, who competed as an Xcel Platinum gymnast and started diving at the JC; Coach Ella, who competed at a high level of Junior Olympics Level 10; Coach Rayan, who has years of martial arts experience; Coach Makena, who grew up in the gym while her mom Andrea coached; Coach Aya, who loves wrestling and soccer; and Coach Josie, who loves fishing.

The program’s mission is to empower children to grow physically and emotionally by building their confidence one skill at a time. Children are asked to be potty trained and at least 4 years old to be dropped off, parents are welcome to stay and watch any programs, and children 3 and under are asked to be accompanied by an adult. Assistance hours run Monday–Friday from 8:30am–5:00pm, with Saturday and Sunday available by appointment or party reservation.

One parent, A. McCall, reports that a child has grown up with Adventure Recreation, feels supported and challenged by the coaching staff, and that the family appreciates the flexibility of classes during other sports seasons. Another parent, A. Hillstead, notes that their three children have attended tumble classes, ninja classes, explore time, and summer camps for years, and that overlapping class times have allowed siblings to attend different classes during the same hour.
