Bay Area Disc Association was founded in 2009 by leaders of the San Francisco Ultimate League, San Francisco Ultimate Club, Bay Area Youth Ultimate, East Bay Ultimate League, and Marin Ultimate Summer League. The organization is a 501(c)(3) non profit disc organization. Its mission is to serve, strengthen, and grow the Ultimate community by creating opportunities for athletes of all ages and backgrounds to interact, develop, and compete, and it embraces and promotes Spirit of the Game in all aspects of its work and play. Bay Area Disc Association runs more than 100 distinct Ultimate programs in 75 different cities across all nine Bay Area counties and serves 5,000 adult and youth players annually. From March 2020 until May 2021, it did not host Ultimate frisbee programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic and instead ran alternative programming, remote events, and shared educational resources, and as of September 2021 it resumed Ultimate programming, including clinics, leagues, tournaments, and other community events for youth and adult players across all nine Bay Area counties. Bay Area Disc Association is centered on four core values: Fun, Respect, Community, Belonging.
