Sonoma County Martial Arts Center was established in 1983. The center’s mission states that it specializes in Kickboxing, Kenpo Karate, Escrima, Tai chi, and Qigong while teaching proper body mechanics and form, and that with proper body mechanics and training students achieve a healthier body, greater sense of self esteem, mental awareness, and overall mental calmness, whether training for a better fitness lifestyle, planning to train for a competition, wanting to learn self defense, or seeking peaceful mental stability. The head instructor and founder is Master Herb Cody Senior, who has an extensive history as a trainer of 8 World Champions, is an instructor of Escrima and Kickboxing, and holds a Masters Degree in traditional Kenpo Karate. The leadership team also includes instructors Phil Colonna, Chris Bertnick, Brandon Bertnick, Adam Jaimes, Marcus Kuok, Terri Crews (Senior Instructor), Al Liwanag, Ms. Joelle, and trainer Todd Gilchrist. The center offers an introductory program to help participants get familiar with the studio, instructors, and course offerings, and new shirts are available for order at the school.
