PV Music House Lessons and Group Classes offers music lessons, group classes, concerts, open mic nights, instrument rentals, instrument sales, and music events. Students can take private lessons in piano, ukulele, bass guitar, flute, saxophone, voice, guitar, and violin, as well as join classes in digital music production, commercial music, choir, advanced band, beginning band, music appreciation, stage band, ukulele, piano, commercial music theory, music history, ear training, music theory, Music for Little Mozarts, and group voice. The program also includes Christian Mariachi Group direction and a student recital in the PV Music House Recital Series.

• Schedule: Store hours are Monday–Friday 10AM–8PM and Saturday 9AM–5PM. Piano teachers have specific availability, including Tomoko Ariyuki on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays; Dr. Lauren Bowman on Saturdays 9AM–5PM; Srimal de Mel on Tuesdays and Fridays 2PM–8PM; Ann Grennan on Mondays and Tuesdays 3PM–8PM; Kevin Patterson on Saturdays 9AM–5PM; and Dr. Marisa Solomon on Mondays and Wednesdays 3PM–8PM.

PV Music House was established in April 2023 and continues a long tradition of being a premier music retail store for instrument sales, instrument school rentals, and lesson studios on the Palos Verdes peninsula since the 1980s, previously known as Mr. B for Music and then Amuse Music Center. The leadership and customer service team includes founder and classical guitarist Jon Minei, Senior Customer Service Representative Andrew Goo, and Customer Service Associates Charles D'Agostino, Samuel Korban, and Neal Edwards, with in-house repair staff for guitars, strings, woodwinds, and trumpets provided by Jon Minei, Dr. Matthew Karatsu, and Matthew Yamada. PV Music House states a mission dedicated to supporting music makers and performances throughout the community, with core principles to make music together, make music for each other, and make music relevant, and a vision to “Make music essential.”

The teaching staff includes instructors with extensive training and experience. Jon Minei is an Associate Professor of Music at El Camino College and holds degrees in guitar performance from UC Irvine and a Master’s degree in classical guitar performance from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. Piano teacher Tomoko Ariyuki has nearly 30 years of teaching experience across three continents, has taught in music schools and colleges as well as privately for children and adults at every level, and is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC). Dr. Lauren Bowman has studied piano with Dr. Konstantin Sirounian, Delores Stevens, and Myrna Mascardo, studied ukulele with Mitch Chang, has taught music in the Centinela Valley Union High School District at all three high schools since 2004, and was featured as a teacher in CTA Magazine’s May/June 2017 issue; her ukulele program was featured in the Images of America Series book “Hawaiians in Los Angeles” in 2012. Voice teacher Ann Grennan is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing, has served as President in the Music Teachers’ Association, has been on the faculty of South Bay Conservatory, Orange County High School of the Arts, and the Norris Performing Arts Center, and has studied the Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais. Kevin Patterson holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts, is a high school music teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District, and holds a teaching credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Dr. Marisa Solomon holds a Ph.D. in Musicology, an MM in Voice from UCLA, an MA in German, and a BA in Voice and German from CSU Fullerton, has taught ages from four and a half to 80, has been on staff at Pepperdine, UCLA, Ventura College, Cal Lutheran University, Imperial Valley College, and Latin American Bible Institute in Los Angeles, taught Music for Little Mozarts and group voice for 12 years at Amuse Music, and directed a Christian Mariachi Group at Mission Ebenezer Family Church for over 20 years.

PV Music House describes itself as a full circle music partner offering sales, lessons, rentals, and community events, and aims to be a hub for music makers, music lovers, music teachers, and music students. It supports music makers, composers, songwriters, beat makers, and improvisers, and hosts concerts and open mic nights that feature musicians. The PV Music House Recital Series offers student recitals on a monthly basis. Its in-house and online store carries merchandise from local musicians, and rentals and rent-to-own instruments are available to support the music community. The team states a commitment to excellence in customer service, product knowledge, and customer education.
