About
Faith Formation for Children (Religious Education, First Communion, Confirmation) includes religious education classes, sacramental preparation for First Communion, First Reconciliation (Confession), and Confirmation, as well as online lessons on faith. Children and teens take part in acts of service, prayer, Bible reading, attending Mass, and, for Confirmation, attending an off-site Confirmation retreat. The religious education program during non-sacrament years focuses on the Gospel message of each Sunday’s Mass, and classes are offered for multiple peer age groups.
• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Religious education and First Communion classes meet most Sunday mornings at 9 am during the school year, with students expected to attend the 10 am Mass; Confirmation students meet in person monthly on Sunday evenings for class and Mass during the school year.
St. Anselm Catholic Church was founded in 1907, and the parish offers Child Faith Formation programs including Religious Education, First Communion, Confirmation, and St. Anselm School. All of the religious education and sacramental preparation programs are based on the teachings of the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. All First Communion students are expected to attend the 10 am Mass, and students are encouraged to attend the 10 am Mass with their families. Students are welcome to join the religious education program at any point during the year. Confirmation preparation includes additional work outside of class, including online lessons on faith, acts of service, prayer, Bible reading, and attending an off-site Confirmation retreat. Phone appointments can be made to meet with the Director of Religious Education to learn more.
