Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Camps and Programs

Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Camps and Programs include activities such as archery, crafts, songs, games, canoeing, swimming, hiking, and STEM, maker, and design-thinking activities. During this five-day, four-night adventure, campers take part in these structured camp experiences. Program Partner Camps range from day camps to overnight travel experiences, and Day Camps take place during the daytime and conclude in the evening.

Camp Menzies was established in 1946, and Girl Scouts Heart of Central California has operated summer camps there for over 75 years. Girl Scouts Heart of Central California owns two camp properties in its council area, Camp Menzies and Camp Fleming, and also offers Camp Golden Timbers as a volunteer-led sleepaway camp experience. Camp Menzies is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets national Girl Scout standards for program, administration, safety, and facilities operation. Camp Menzies is open May to September and has programs for girls, troops, and families, with buses available to transport Girl Scout campers from Sacramento, Modesto, and Angels Camp. Camp Fleming is predominantly a rental property for troops and service units and hosts Wild Weekends and Journey in a Weekend events, which are overnight experiences for girls with their adults or for completing parts of age-level Girl Scout Journeys. Seniors and Ambassadors at Camp Golden Timbers can earn a Community Service Bar, work on a Take Action project, and act as role models to younger campers. Day Camps are supported by trained staff and dedicated volunteers, and Day Camps are held at community locations throughout the council’s service area.

Girl Scouts Heart of Central California partners with a wide range of organizations throughout its service area to provide girls with unique programs. Regional Program Centers each feature a STEM Center + MakerSpace and a Girl Scout shop, and these STEM Centers + MakerSpaces host STEM, maker, and design-thinking activities. The Mobile STEM Center + MakerSpace brings these activities to girls across an 18-county region, and three cabins in Davis, Tracy, and Woodland are available at no cost for troops and service units to reserve for meetings, activities, or small gatherings.
