• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Camp Menzies is open May to September; Camp Golden Timbers is a five-day, four-night session

Camp Menzies was established in 1946 and has operated summer camps for over 75 years. Camp Menzies is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets national Girl Scout standards for program, administration, safety, and facilities operation. Girl Scouts Heart of Central California owns two camp properties in its council area, Camp Menzies and Camp Fleming, and also has three cabins in Davis, Tracy, and Woodland that troops and service units can reserve at no cost. Camp Fleming is predominantly a rental property for troops and service units and includes an archery range, campsites, a lodge with a multipurpose room and kitchen, a campfire area and stage, a trail system, and a heated dormitory-style lodge with a full kitchen and multi-purpose room.

Buses are available to transport Girl Scout campers to sleepaway camp at Camp Menzies, departing from Sacramento, Modesto, and Angels Camp. Day Camps are held at community locations throughout the council’s service area, take place during the daytime, conclude in the evening, and are supported by trained staff and dedicated volunteers. Program Partner Camps range from day camps to overnight travel experiences. Wild Weekends and Journey in a Weekend events are hosted at Camp Fleming, with Wild Weekends set up as overnight experiences for girls and their adults and Journey in a Weekend programs set up as overnight experiences where Girl Scouts complete the “Discover and Connect” portions of age-level Journeys.

Seniors and Ambassadors at Camp Golden Timbers can act as role models to younger campers, earn a Community Service Bar, and work on a Take Action project. Regional Program Centers each feature a STEM Center + MakerSpace and a Girl Scout shop, and the STEM Centers + MakerSpaces host STEM, maker, and design-thinking activities. The Mobile STEM Center + MakerSpace brings these activities to girls across the council’s 18-county region. The mission of Girl Scouts Heart of Central California is to build Girl Scouts of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, and the council partners with a wide range of organizations throughout its service area to provide girls with unique programs.
