In the early 1970s, two Sacramento State students established a tool co-op that became the campus’s first bicycle shop, and in 1989 the program was designated a program of Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) and became known as Peak Adventures. Peak Adventures’ stated purpose is to foster personal growth, leadership, and connections through outdoor experiences. ASI Peak Adventures is an outdoor recreation program of Associated Students, Inc. at Sacramento State and operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The program’s Challenge Center was designed and constructed by Peak Adventures’ student and non-student staff, and the program employs eight professional staff members plus over 50 student and non-student staff members who serve thousands of customers each year. The program states that it is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of its work.
