Founded in 1977, Sacramento United Soccer Club Competitive Youth Program has a competitive program that serves over 50 teams and 1,200 players annually. The club operates a club-wide training and coaching program where all players and teams learn from all the coaches in common training sessions and training camps, and coaches work in close coordination to deliver a shared philosophy of the game and systems to play it. The program is led by experienced and licensed soccer coaches and is co-led and managed by former Costa Rican International Reymond Harris and by Juan Fresquez, with additional leadership roles including Club President Albert Regalado and Vice President Brent Sasaki, along with directors and coordinators for managers, membership, finance, volunteers, events, and equipment. Sacramento United states that since 1977 it has been dedicated to creating a family-friendly environment while nurturing players’ technical, tactical, physical, and psychological growth, with training and coaching goals that include building character, instilling positive values such as hard work, responsibility, mutual respect, and teamwork, and fostering a lifelong love and understanding of soccer, with the stated goal that lessons learned on the soccer field help athletes in achieving their goals in life.

The club has acceptance and active participation in the national league’s Girls Academy and MLS NEXT and is designated as a Players 1st Club by US Club Soccer. It offers Girls Academy League for the 2025–26 season for U13–U19 and MLS NEXT Homegrown for the 2025–26 season, with Sacramento United as the only club in the Sacramento region to offer a full pathway (U13–U19) with Homegrown and Academy platforms, including a new MLS NEXT Academy platform competition for the 2025–26 season. Sacramento United develops relations with recreational clubs and fosters player and parental involvement in the planning, organization, and administration of the program, and lists Proud Sacramento United Partners. Families have access to the BYGA mobile app for schedules, rosters, team chat, instant messaging, RSVPs, and more, and full access to team matches captured through VEO with high-quality video. The club offers a Financial Assistance Program for those that qualify, with information also provided in Spanish, and provides online access to a Club Store and logins for administrators, coaches, team managers, and other systems. Notable alumni listed from the program include Paige Almendariz (Benfica, Portugal), Katelin Talbert (West Ham, England), Juan Negrete (Rayo Vallecano C, Spain), and Jaylen Crim (Pogon Szczecin, Poland). Nike uniform kits for boys and girls are required but not covered by the club, and goals, nets, pop-ups, coolers, and field supplies are managed by the Equipment Manager.
