The mission of Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts is to change lives and connect the community through high quality, accessible music and arts education and programming. The organization is part of the Carnegie Hall Link Up program through MusicLIVE, with students performing on stage with the Sacramento Philharmonic. S.I.M.A. offers 15 string classes in 5 area schools and provides personalized string instruction to more than 100 students each year. Its partners include musicians, teaching artists, educators, and performing arts organizations, and through community partnerships with organizations like the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, students and their families attend workshops, guest artist events, and live performances. One of its efforts is the “Save the Pease” campaign, described as a grass-roots effort. The program provides family-friendly, accessible classical music and arts programming for a wide range of people throughout the community. Ingrid Tracy, Founder of Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts, has stated, “The arts are essential to the human spirit. They connect us to one another, to our deeper selves, and to the world around us.”
