Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts offers private lessons, recitals, workshops, live performances, string classes, and personalized string instruction. In the early 2000s, violinist Ingrid Peters began teaching a beginning violin program at Didion Elementary School. In 2013, the Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts (S.I.M.A.) was established as a 501(c)(3) organization. The organization’s mission is to change lives and connect the community through high quality, accessible music and arts education and programming. The leadership team includes Ingrid Tracy, Founder of the Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts, and Ingrid Peters, a violinist who began teaching a beginning violin program at Didion Elementary School in the early 2000s. The Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts operates the “Save the Pease” campaign as a grass-roots effort. It offers 15 string classes in 5 area schools and provides personalized string instruction to more than 100 students each year. Its partners are musicians, teaching artists, educators, and performing arts organizations, including organizations like the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera. Through these partnerships, students and their families are exposed to professional level classical music through workshops, guest artists, and live performances, and students perform on stage with the Sacramento Philharmonic as part of the Carnegie Hall Link Up program. The Sacramento Institute for Music & the Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization. One testimonial from Founder Ingrid Tracy states, “The arts are essential to the human spirit.
