PARCA, the organization behind REACH Summer Day Camp, was started by parents of children with developmental disabilities in 1952. Its mission is “Expanding opportunities for people with developmental disabilities and their families.” REACH before and after-school childcare is a program for children with and without developmental disabilities, ages four years and nine months to 13, with a child-to-staff ratio of eight to one that can be as low as three to one depending on the child’s needs. All staff are trained in first aid and CPR. REACH is licensed by the Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division, #414003043. As part of its Dare to Dream initiative, the organization plans virtual community meetings to gather information on unmet needs such as affordable housing, culturally relevant services, gaps in services for seniors and teens, difficulty accessing needed services, and difficulty affording medical care and other basic needs.
