Sheila's In-Home Learning Program is a home based Pre-Montessori and Pre-School with a large classroom, playroom, bathroom, and a fully structured play yard extended in the back of the property, and it is within walking distance to the San Bruno Library. The program provides delicious and healthy meals that emphasize fresh fruits and vegetables, with AM and PM snacks and hot lunches provided, and no sweets used as a reward. The program has a low student/teacher ratio, with two full-time teachers and one part-time aide, and parents do not need to take time off from work for teacher conferences because staff are available to discuss a child's needs at any time. The program states that as a small Pre-School program, children have more advantage in learning phonics, math, and computer skills sooner, and that children are hopefully reading and writing when they enter the Kindergarten Program with more self-esteem and better social skills.

Sheila's In-Home Learning Program was established in 1995 and is owned by Sheila Cary. The owner holds a B.S. Degree in Psychology/Sociology from the College of Notre Dame, has 28 units in Early Childhood Education, is CPR and First Aid certified, has over 36 years of experience teaching pre-school aged children, and has been Montessori trained for over 8 years. The program’s mission statement says it provides a happy, creative environment that allows each child to develop at his or her own pace, with a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere, exceptional teachers who are carefully selected and trained to nurture and stimulate children's growth and socialization, and a commitment to continuous improvement and to meeting the needs of each individual child. Sheila's In-Home Learning Program is a member of The County of San Mateo Children and Family Services, 4 C's of San Mateo County, NAYC - National Association of Young Children, and the San Mateo County Family Child Care Association, and it received the Family Advocate Award in 2016.
