Ballet Academy & Movement offers classes in ballet, contemporary/lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, dance team, musical theater, Athletes in Motion, Pilates, Gyrotonic®, cheer, and private lessons. The program also runs summer camps and summer intensives that include these dance and movement styles.

Ballet Academy & Movement was established in 2021 and is founded, operated, and staffed by former professional dancers. Founder and Director Miss Amanda Cobb was a professional ballet dancer for over 15 years and has worked as a personal trainer for Pilates and Gyrotonic. The leadership and teaching team includes Miss Amanda Cobb (Founder and Director, Director, Owner), Cara Matchett (Assistant Director), and teachers Katherine Thomas, Deborah Fauerbach, Madelynn Hampton, Pie Gonzalez, Ally Helman, Sam Weeks, Lauryn Rowe, Kylie Yamano, Kaitlan Mills, Ellie Johnson, and guest teacher Nilas Martins. The program’s mission states that Ballet Academy & Movement wants to help the community move their bodies so they can be healthier and happier and reach their potential, no matter what their dance and movement goals and aspirations may be.
The program offers a free trial for new students ages 3 to adult and small focused classes. Instruction is provided by world-class instructors with world-class professional experience in a wide variety of dance styles for beginners through professionals. The curriculum is well-rounded and based on a solid foundation of ballet, with technique rooted in classical excellence and adapted for today’s dancer, and a progressive curriculum that develops strength, alignment, musicality, and artistry at every level. The studio culture is described as affirming, with a strong emphasis on kindness, respect, love of dance, joy, kindness, and personal growth.
Students have meaningful performance opportunities, including an annual Nutcracker and spring productions, as well as competitions, intensives, workshops, dance camps, and a competition program for dancers. Recreational classes are available for fun, fitness, or friendship, and specialty programs include the Elite Performers Company, Baby BAMers (Petites), and adult programs. Off-season options include camps and intensives, and Pilates and Gyrotonic® are offered to enhance flexibility, strength, and fluidity. Cheer programs are available for ages 6 and up. Students from Ballet Academy & Movement have been placed at prestigious ballet intensive programs including Royal Ballet in London, England (2024), American Ballet Theater in New York, NY (2023), Stuttgart Ballet in Stuttgart, Germany (2022), BYU in Provo, UT (2024), Ballet West in Salt Lake City, UT (2022, 2026), and Miami City Ballet in Miami, FL (2026).
The community outreach program enables students to gain performance experience at regional cultural events and locations including National Dance Day, Pelican Hill, Segerstrom, Casa Romantica, the San Juan Capistrano Butterfly Festival, and the OC Parks Sunset Cinema Series. Community partners include Cabrillo Point Academy, iLead Exploration, Pacific Coast Academy, and Outreach Community Partners, and charter school partners allow use of charter school funds for classes. Ballet Academy & Movement has been awarded Best of San Clemente four times, voted Best Dance School in San Clemente in 2022, 2023, and 2024, received Peoples Choice Awards in 2023, 2024, and 2025, and is in the San Clemente Hall of Fame.
