America's Youth Outreach Programs (AYOP) has been serving the San Diego community since 1992 as an organization dedicated to providing low-cost after school athletic enrichment programs for children 5–15 years of age and their families through relationships with City and County Parks and Recreation Departments, Boys & Girls Clubs, The Salvation Army, churches, and school districts. AYOP offers Tae Kwon Do and Martial Arts programs that are described as the most affordable for local communities, their children, and families, and are designed to build honor, discipline, respect, self confidence, concentration, coordination, and physical fitness. The program teaches children many life skills, as well as how to deal with bullying and stranger danger, and uses trophies, achievement awards, and competition tournaments as positive reinforcement to encourage students' learning.
The mission of America's Youth Outreach Programs (AYOP) is to provide affordable athletic enrichment programs that are locally accessible and available in every community and that promote life skills such as honor, respect, discipline, self-confidence, self-esteem, physical fitness, concentration, coordination, commitment, and a competitive spirit, which increases and improves social interaction and academic performance in youth, while providing a fun and safe environment for children. The program provides passionate, well educated, and background screened teachers that are described as positive role models for children. After school athletic enrichment programs are goal oriented in order to help children get on the right path towards achieving their goals in life.
AYOP notes that its classes are more than just instructor-led martial arts classes and are described as a complete goal-oriented program for individual achievement, trusted by over 6,000 students and parents. One testimonial shared with the program is the quote, “To me, the extraordinary aspect of martial arts lies in its simplicity. The easy way is also the right way, and martial arts is nothing at all special; the closer to the true way of martial arts, the less wastage of expression there is.” by Bruce Lee. Another testimonial shared is the quote, “The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don´t tell you what to see.” by Alexandra K. Trenfor.
