Mid City Little League

Mid-City Little League offers Tee Ball for ages 4-6, Rookies (CAPS) for ages 6-8, Minors for ages 8-10, Majors for ages 10-12, and Juniors for ages 12-14. Tee Ball has practices once a week for 45-60 minutes and one game per week on Saturday mornings. Rookies has practices once or twice a week for 60-90 minutes and one or two games per week, mostly on Saturdays. Minors, Majors, and Juniors have practices twice per week for 1-2 hours and two games per week, with one game on Saturday and one during the week.

Programs

• Tee Ball — Ages 4-6 · Practices once a week for 45-60 minutes; one game per week on Saturday mornings · Non-competitive program focused on fun, fitness, and fundamentals.
• Rookies (CAPS) — Ages 6-8 · Practices once or twice a week for 60-90 minutes; one or two games per week, predominantly on Saturdays but some throughout the week · Non-competitive program focused on fun, safety, and developing skills. Assessments are required for players age 6 or others who wish to play at this level and are out of the listed age range.
• Minors — Ages 8-10 · Practices twice per week for 1-2 hours; two games per week, one on Saturday and one during the week · First competitive program focused on fun and developing skills. Assessments are required.
• Majors — Ages 10-12 · Practices twice per week for 1-2 hours; two games per week, one on Saturday and one during the week · For older and more experienced players. Teams may also participate in tournaments during the season. Assessments are required.
• Juniors — Ages 12-14 · Practices twice per week for 1-2 hours; two games per week, one on Saturday and one during the week · League Baseball Division for players ages 12-14. Teams may also participate in tournaments during the season. Assessments are required.

About the provider

Mid-City Little League was founded in 1949 and is the oldest little league in San Diego. It is a member of Little League Baseball's California District 33. The program says it is committed to the development of character and sportsmanship and provides youth with a safe, healthy, and accepting environment to learn the fundamentals of baseball and instill values that promote citizenship and community responsibility. It also says that dedicated volunteers serve as role models and teach life lessons through baseball, and that a diverse community comes together to offer children an opportunity for fun and learning.

All games except Juniors are played at Adams Avenue Rec Center. Practices are held at Adams Avenue Rec Center and Franklin Elementary. Assessments are held in mid January for levels that require them.
