SAY San Diego Preschools & Extended Learning Programs offers licensed childcare and preschool for infants through children up to five years old. The programs take place in year-round centers that feature safe, stimulating, and nature-inspired environments. Founded in 1971, SAY San Diego serves over 30,000 San Diegans annually and has been serving the community for more than 50 years. The organization’s mission is to partner with youth, adults, families, and communities to reach their full potential, with a vision of opportunity, access to services, and well-being for all San Diegans. SAY San Diego engages the San Diego community to work collaboratively and partners with schools, community coalitions, and local government, as well as families, communities, and local leaders, to enact positive change and equitable social conditions. The leadership team includes Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Louie Nguyen; Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jane Drover; Senior Manager, Administration Allie Lindsley; Associate VP of Philanthropy Mary Baum; Associate VP of People & Culture Lisa Bridges; Vice President Community Engagement Kevin O'Neill; Vice President Child and Youth Development Chris Jewell; and Vice President Youth, Adult & Family Wellness Kelly Vales.
One parent at SAY’s Early Childhood Center shared that since the first day, their child Miya has excitedly run into the classroom and looks happy at pickup, and that having access to the center allows the parent to feel at ease while working. Another parent described SAY San Diego’s Military Family Resource Center as a place where their family always feels welcome and where their daughter looks forward to visiting each week. A youth advocate described The Collective as a place that supports movements to protect vulnerable people, offers a safe arena to find and understand resources, and fosters meaningful connections and community building. Another parent reported receiving assistance from SAY San Diego with a housing deposit after receiving a 60-day notice to move, as well as gift cards for children’s presents at Christmas, and expressed strong appreciation for this support.
