Classics 4 Kids Music Education Programs serves TK–8th grade students and is open to all students, teachers, and families regardless of socio-economic status, with a focus on serving under-resourced students. The programs align with California Arts Standards for elementary schools and promote Social-Emotional learning. Equitable access is prioritized by offering approximately 100 free bus scholarships and thousands of ticket subsidies, enabling up to 7,000 students from under-resourced and under-represented schools to attend concerts each season. Local and virtual programs reach over 40,000 students, teachers, and families across hundreds of schools, and over 72% of students served represent under-resourced elementary schools.

Classics 4 Kids was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 organization. The leadership team includes Kiran Shelat, Executive Director; Dana Zimbric, Artistic Director and Conductor; Corrine Huber, Program Manager; and Kelly Makley, Development Manager. The mission of Classics 4 Kids is “Transforming children’s lives through innovative educational concerts and music programs that inspire learning, creativity, and community.” The organization works to strengthen partnerships with schools, foundations, and non-profits to expand programming reach.

A teacher at an under-resourced San Diego County school shared, “Thank you for representing other cultures. My students felt represented, valued, and seen.” Another teacher from an under-resourced San Diego County school said, “Many students served by schools like mine have never been exposed to live music. Classics 4 Kids’ offer to cover transportation expenses and tickets at a reduced price opens doors to experiences that would not be possible without such support.”
